Melbourne quartet Big Yawn make experimental electronic music by fusing a wash of sweeping synthesizers, heavily refracted vocal sampling, motorik style percussion and disorientating dub FX. The band takes musical inspiration from artists like Hiroshi Sato, Hype Williams, DJ Nigga Fox, Shinichi Atobe and many more.

The debut full length "No!" channelled the band's predilection for adventurous cross-genre combinatorics. While clearly indebted to d'n'b, post-punk, UK bass music, footwork and ambient conventions, the record is made unique by its own dissociative take on live electronic music.
In contrast, the sophomore "South Preston Garage" EP is a studio record, a departure from the live elements of the LP. Prompted by the limitations imposed by lockdown, the band were inspired to construct a record that exploited their share of lo-fi and non-linear jams by creatively engineering new life to them in post-production.
"No! Remixes" presented another side of Big Yawn's perennially evolving creative process, bringing in collaborators for a reconstruction of their debut record. The remixes EP featured dark and warm interpretations from artists and peers Sleep D, Jay Glass Dubs, Maria Moles, Bullant and Raymond ScottWalker.
Big Yawn's energetic and unrelenting live performances create a definitive impression on the forthcoming "Pressure Acts" EP. The sonic textures in the record are lush, stoned, frenetic and fun. The music is sinister yet also tongue-in-cheek: Phil Collins and Slipknot may have even been sampled.
