noise in my head

Noise In My Head is a freeform sonic excursion piloted by Michael Kucyk. From early beginnings as a long-running cult radio show on Melbourne’s 3RRR FM, it has become a vital nexus to the Australia music scene, and now the identity expands as a DJ, two record labels and party series.

For over 11 years, NIMH has brought together producers, DJs and selectors from all over the world through his radio show, forming links between Australia, Japan, Germany, Sweden, UAE, Canada, the US and beyond throughout the process. The carefully curated program now broadcasts fortnight on London online institution NTS, alongside regular presenters Andrew Weatherall, Four Tet, Floating Points, Funkineven, Trevor Jackson and Moxie.

With two labels, NIMH’s quest to share mind bending musical anomalies doesn’t end. Noise In My Head Records has released Suzanne Kraft, Lucy Cliché and Villa Åbo, as well as collaborating with Butter Sessions for the all-local compilation series Domestic Documents. Simultaneously, Efficient Space has established itself as a lauded retrospective imprint. The label has spotlighted 90s Melbourne backroom house from Braden Schlager and unsung dub master Andy Rantzen, while co-ordinating three compilations - 'Oz Waves', 'Midnite Spares' and the defining coming-of-age record 'Sky Girl'.
